The course complies with the mandatory requirements of Ethics and professional responsibility (1 point), practice management and business skills (1 point) and professional skills (1 point).  

If you intend to claim CPD units for this educational activity, please note that CPD activities are not accredited by the Law Society of NSW or any other equivalent local authority, with the exception of Western Australia. If you hold a practising certificate in a state or territory other than Western Australia and this educational activity extends your knowledge and skills in areas that are relevant to your practice needs or professional development, then you should claim one (1) "unit” for each hour of attendance, refreshment breaks not included. Mary Walker SC 
Barrister, 9 Wentworth Chambers

Mary Walker OAM has been at the forefront of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in Australia for more than 30 years. A highly respected barrister, mediator, and arbitrator, Mary has resolved over 4,000 disputes spanning commercial, environmental, community, and international matters. She serves on leading panels including the Supreme Court of NSW, the Singapore International Mediation Centre, and the NSW Trustee and Guardian.

Internationally accredited by the International Mediation Institute, Mary has taught mediation at Harvard, Stanford, Bond, and the University of Sydney. She has chaired key ADR committees for the NSW Bar Association and the Law Council of Australia and continues to influence the evolution of ADR practice and ethics.

Among her many accolades, Mary has been named Australian Mediator of the Year multiple times and was the inaugural inductee into the Australian ADR Awards Hall of Fame. In 2021, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the law.

 

Michela Gallimore

Michela Gallimore 
Principal, Gallimore Lawyers, and Adjunct Lecturer, College of Law

Michela Gallimore is the Principal of Gallimore Lawyers and an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Law, with over 36 years’ experience as a solicitor in New South Wales.

She specialises in complex commercial and contract law, advising clients across litigious, advisory, and transactional matters. Michela has held senior legal and policy roles with Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Ashurst (formerly Blake Dawson Waldron), and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office, and served as Senior Counsel at the Sydney Futures Exchange and ASX. There, she led commercial negotiations for major projects, including the implementation of Australia’s electronic trading system, and contributed to financial market policy development with ASIC and the ASX Policy Committee.

An Accredited Commercial Mediator, Michela holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws in Commercial Law. Since 2016, she has lectured in the College of Law’s Practical Legal Training programs.
