Update May 11th 2026
The College has now restored access to Canvas following the recent global data security incident and related outage affecting the platform.
The decision to restore access follows engagement with the National Office of Cyber Security, monitoring of guidance from CAUDIT (Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology), and assurance from Instructure that the platform is operational and secure.
Students and staff can now access Canvas, course materials, assessments and messages as usual.
The College will continue communicating directly with students regarding any assessment, submission or program arrangements impacted by the outage.
If you are unable to access Canvas, please contact itsupport@collaw.edu.au.

We understand this disruption has caused concern for students and appreciate the patience and understanding shown while this issue has been managed. We will continue to provide updates and communicate directly with impacted students.
Update May 8th 2026
The College continues to monitor the global data security incident affecting Canvas, the learning management system used to deliver student courses and programs.
As a precautionary security measure, the College has chosen to disconnect from Canvas systems while further assessment and monitoring continues.
Students and staff will not be able to access Canvas at this time and we encourage all users to close any existing Canvas browser sessions or applications currently open on their devices.
We will reassess access to Canvas as further information and updates become available.

Update May 7th 2026
There has been a global data security incident affecting Canvas, the learning management system the College uses to deliver your course or program. Canvas is operated by Instructure, a third-party provider used by government departments, universities and education organisations worldwide.
Instructure has advised that an incident occurred within its systems, and while our own systems were not breached, some student data held within Canvas such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, student identification numbers and messages exchanged in Canvas may have been accessed.
Other personal information such as passwords, dates of birth, government identifiers or financial information are not stored in Canvas by the College.
The incident is being actively monitored by Instructure and Canvas remains available for student use.
We understand that incidents of this nature can cause concern. The College remains committed to safeguarding the security and integrity of its data and is maintaining close contact with Instructure and will share further updates if required.
